About the project
This 95 MWp photovoltaic project, located in Córdoba, Spain, highlights our commitment to sustainable energy development in the region. Spanning approximately 373 hectares, the project features PV ground-mounted technology with single-axis trackers.
Almodóvar is added to the portfolio of projects sold to leading independent power producer (IPP) Encavis AG, alongside the 109 MWp Lirios solar park, located near Seville, and the 56.3 MWp Archidona solar park in Málaga, thus strengthening the ongoing collaboration between both companies.

Part of a VPPA with Huhtamaki
The project is part of a 10-year Virtual Power Purchase Agreement (VPPA) with Huhtamaki, a leading global provider of sustainable packaging solutions based in Finland.
The deal for two Spanish solar farms, Colomera and Almodóvar, covers approximately 80% of Huhtamaki’s electricity needs in Europe. It marked the largest European solar corporate VPPA for the packaging industry, as well as the first solar corporate VPPA signed by a Finnish company.
Our commitment to biodiversity conservation
BayWa r.e. is contributing to enhancing biodiversity throughout the project’s construction and operation. To achieve this, the company will take various measures. These include laying out two ponds for invertebrates and amphibians, installing nesting boxes, and building shelter for small mammals, insects and bats.
Furthermore, the company will cultivate leguminous and cereal species as a habitat for steppe birds on an area of approximately 82 hectares, situated near the project site.
